Curriculum Intent

At Fernwood Primary and Nursery School, our curriculum is designed to foster a lifelong love of learning, igniting curiosity, creativity, and a passion for discovery in every child. We believe in building a strong foundation of knowledge and skills that progressively develop throughout each stage of a child’s education. From the earliest years through to Key Stage 2, our curriculum is carefully sequenced to ensure that every learner not only acquires essential knowledge but also develops the critical thinking and problem-solving skills needed to navigate a rapidly changing world.

We aspire to create a vibrant and inclusive learning environment where children are encouraged to explore, ask questions, and make connections across subjects. Through a rich and diverse curriculum, we aim to nurture a deep understanding of the world around them, preparing them to become confident, responsible, and compassionate individuals who are equipped to thrive in the future.

Our approach is rooted in the belief that learning is a lifelong journey, and we are committed to providing our pupils with the tools and mindset to continue their learning beyond the classroom. A skilled and experienced team support all children to grow and develop in many ways. Our values of Friendship, Respect, Inclusion, Enthusiasm, Nurture and Determination are lived out by children and staff so that we can meet our ambitious aims of excellence for all. We aim to inspire a sense of wonder and possibility, ensuring that all children, regardless of their starting point, leave our school with the skills, knowledge, and ambition to reach their full potential.
